At Fanderwan, we create memorial goods through knitting.
This one is a knitted blanket.
While knitting, I often find myself thinking:
“I hope this piece will help someone feel at home again…”
Among the pets we work with, many have already passed away.
Nearly 20 years ago, during a design consultation, one customer said to me:
“I’m looking forward to bringing this home. For the first time in a long while, I feel hopeful again.”
They had lost their beloved dog and, unable to tell anyone about their grief, were quietly enduring lonely days.
There are many customers who share the same kind of story.
When I first heard those words—“I finally feel hopeful again”—I was deeply moved.
It made me realize that what I create could truly lift someone’s spirits.
I understood then that this work is about more than making a cushion or a blanket.
The things I knit are not just cushions or blankets.
For my customers, they become cherished memories,
a reason to move forward again,
and a bond that continues with their beloved pets.
Delivering that feeling—that is my role.
And always, I want to help them feel like they can “go home” again.
That moment was nearly 20 years ago.
Since then, I too have lost pets of my own,
and through experiencing pet loss myself,
I’ve come to truly understand my customers’ feelings as if they were my own.
Now, I carefully, carefully listen to each story while I create,
hoping to walk alongside each customer and help them regain hope.
Are you searching for a way to feel hopeful again?
Choosing a photo, discussing a design, and waiting for your knitted cushion to be completed—
