We all have moments when we remember pets who have passed away.
When you think of them, do you feel sadness—or joy?
For me, there are days when memories bring tears, and other days when they fill me with happiness.
Today, I’d like to share some reflections on the feelings that come when remembering pets in heaven.
Remembering My Pet in Heaven
This is my cat, Maro.
He crossed the rainbow bridge in the summer of 2020.
Since then, time has passed, but I still think of him from time to time—maybe a few times each month.
I wonder, Is he doing well in heaven? Has he made friends? Should I go visit his grave soon?
Sometimes those thoughts make me feel grateful and warm inside. Other times, the longing becomes so strong that I just want to see him again.
When Memories Bring Happiness
Most of the time, remembering pets in heaven makes me feel happy.
I believe Maro is enjoying his time in that other world.
When he was with us, he gave me so much joy, made me laugh, and brought warmth to both me and my other cat, Sora.
Those moments still lift my heart, and when I open our photo albums, the memories come back so vividly.
Sometimes I even smile out loud when I find a particularly cute picture.
Like the one of Maro staring at my cake (of course I never let him eat it).
Just looking at photos like that fills me with happiness all over again.
When Memories Bring Sadness
But there are also days when remembering makes me sad.
On those days, I often hold Maro’s collar in my hand, wear it around my wrist like a bracelet, or keep it in my pocket.
Thinking back to the day we said goodbye always brings tears to my eyes—even now, as I write these words.
On such days, I like to believe Maro is actually close by.
If that’s the case, then even the sadness feels okay, because it means he’s near.
Sometimes, these emotions also help me check in on myself—maybe it’s a sign that I’m feeling low and need some self-care.
Pets Are Happy When We Remember Them
I truly believe that when we take time to remember our pets, it makes them happy too.
Maybe they’re right beside us, watching over us, even if we can’t see them.
Maybe they’re whispering to us, wanting to cuddle, or even coming by to cheer us up.
Thinking this way gives me strength and reminds me to keep going.
Encouragement for My Work
My work is creating pet memorial goods.
Every day, I receive requests from people who want to preserve memories of their beloved pets.
Through knitted cushions, blankets, and other handmade pieces filled with warmth, I hope to bring comfort to grieving hearts.
That hope keeps me motivated to continue creating, day after day.
