Even when we think we’ve moved on from pet loss, waves of sadness often come back unexpectedly.
That lingering sorrow is only natural—it’s a reflection of the deep love we have for our pets.
In those moments when loneliness resurfaces, having something tangible to hold onto can make a world of difference.
Do you have a keepsake that reminds you of your pet—something you can carry with you wherever you go?
In this post, I’d like to share my personal story—how a small memento has helped me through the hardest moments of pet loss.
A Personal Keepsake from My Cat
These days, there are many types of memorial items for pets—from collars and toys to keepsakes made from fur or ashes.
Many of them are small enough to take with you, and perhaps you already have something like that.
This is Maro, my beloved cat.
He passed away in July 2020 and has been in my heart ever since.
Although I didn’t have any memorial goods made at the time, I did want something I could wear.
So I started using Maro’s collar as a bracelet.
I believe I was able to recover from the initial stages of grief relatively quickly.
(You can read more about why [here].)
But even now, there are days when the sadness comes rushing back out of nowhere.
Sometimes I wake up already feeling empty and overwhelmed with emotion.
On days like that, I put on the bracelet—Maro’s collar—before heading out to work.
And when the sadness hits, I gently squeeze it with my other hand.
It feels as if Maro is right there, giving me strength.
Or maybe, more than strength, it feels like he’s whispering:
“Take it easy. Don’t try too hard.”
Because he was a cat—an independent spirit through and through.
He’d probably be starting to forget me by now… and oddly, I find comfort in that thought.
(It’s something I hope is true, and here’s why.)
Messages from Maro That Still Stay with Me
Maro used to look at me with eyes that seemed to say:
“I’m okay. Don’t worry about tomorrow. You can let go of yesterday. And if you ever need me, I’ll be right here.”
Just remembering his face brings me peace.
When I wear the bracelet, my wife often notices and says,
“Oh, it’s one of those days, isn’t it?”
That small exchange lets me know she understands, and I feel supported by my family.
Even though Maro is gone, this bracelet—his last little gift to me—helps me keep going.
Customer Request: “I want something like a scarf that I can take with me when I go out.”
We create custom memorial items using photos of beloved pets.
For some time, many of our customers have expressed a desire for a wearable item—something like a scarf—that they could carry with them wherever they go.
In response to this request, we developed our custom knit shawl.
It’s perfect for those who want to feel wrapped in the warmth of their pet at all times. Many customers have reached out to us with this heartfelt wish, and we’re honored to bring it to life.
You can always be with me when you go out ☆
